….

When I was young I was taught a song.
“This little light of mine I’m gone let it shine”
Despite all the dark clouds over my life.
I was giving life to shed light.
Channel my inner visions through
Rhyme spitting.
Up late perfecting my poems.
Tried counting the sheep I was given.
I still can’t sleep.
We all entitled to our opinions.
So what entails there’s a wrong religion.
It’s all a belief system.
One tree under God.
Different branches that stem the way we walk and talk.
Read different books for my daily bread
While most be scared to speak their mind.
I choose to defy the odds and let this light shine.

My goal in life is to be able to recite Mystikal’s verse perfectly.

“Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. Without a prison, there can be no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift. We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.” — John (Fire) Lame Deer, Sioux Lakota, 1903-1976.

Sometimes

Sometimes.
I get this feeling like
I wanna make a difference.
Then I get another feeling that I wanna be ignorant.
Then I think about the children
In need of a role model to follow.
And a person to lead.
Sometimes this life gets chaotic
And feel you hit rock bottom.
Just look up to the sky.
Believe in self.
Trust your heart and not anyone else.

Now.

Why put off tomorrow what can be done today.
So much potential to be great.
Instead you’re throwing your life away.
For what?
A piece of concrete that took some people who don’t care about you some weeks?
Those colors red and blue?
What are you really fighting for?
I see kids dropping out of school.
Females doubling up.
Playing mommy and daddy.
While the biological fathers out creating another broken family.
Would a gardener plant a seed, and never watch it grow?
No.
So why must you?
Papa was a rolling stone.
Moving too fast to settle down.
When will this generation evolve?
There’s no time better to rise up than now.
Where will you be for the revolution?

I’d rather reblog this. Than letting it just sit on my dashboard

…..

Where I come from everyone aspires to be stars.
Drive Fancy cars.
Wear Diamond rings.
Sagging in some Prada jeans.
Many minds are twisted.
Many of us are truly gifted.
But still throwing away God given talents.
The world is my canvas.
I paint pictures with prepositions, nouns, and verbs.
Poems and spoken word.
Through these verbal paintings.
The world sees into my darkest nights.
Or they see my brightest day.
It’s hard to live ya life as humble as possible.
When you overcame so many obstacles.
Them demons tried stopping you.
Through these eyes,
I see a world full of lies. Congregation participating in religious prostitution.
Pastors coincide illusions.
Tithes goes to new suits.
Offerings goes to new coupes.
A new generation hung by an old noose.
